Partnership with forsys

forsys and Data Panel work together for high-quality wiring solutions in mobile machines

Mobile machine and special vehicle manufacturers with low quantities in particular are familiar with the problem: On the electronic side, they do not have the same options as a series manufacturer. While they can have electronics and cable harnesses tailored to their needs due to the higher quantities, (special) production often does not pay off with low machine quantities or large variances.

Out of this necessity, mobile electronics are therefore often combined with components from industrial automation. This may still work reasonably well inside the cabin or under the engine hood - but freely suspended terminal boxes are susceptible to various environmental effects and are often difficult to integrate into the machines due to their dimensions. In addition, wiring the boxes requires good expertise and is time-consuming.

Data Panel addresses the concerns of custom and low-volume manufacturers with a modular approach to IO wiring, offering rugged and space-saving IP67 and IP69K-rated products for distributed and modular vehicle wiring.

In the integration of hardware and the programming of sophisticated software, Data Panel is now supported by forsys - Forschungstransfer und Systemtechnik GmbH. The Osnabrück-based company sees itself as a system development partner and system supplier. Since 2009, forsys has been developing and producing individual concepts and systems in all areas of mobile drive and control technology. In development work, the offer ranges from short-term service activities to a multi-year knowledge partnership, in which a large part of the development is taken over by forsys.

In particular, the diverse possibilities of the Data Panel IO modules in combination with robust connection cables from Murrelektronik have convinced forsys. This means that one or the other system solution can already be implemented today without any terminal box at all. This is also particularly easy and fast with Data Panel, because all the necessary planning files, such as EPLAN macros or CAD data, are available as downloads in the web store. The components can be plugged together in a short time, even by unskilled workers. The integration of the available bus modules into the CODESYS 3.5-capable display controllers, which will soon be available, has also already been completed.

In practice, this plug-and-play approach saves electricians and technicians a lot of work and reduces production throughput times, especially for machines with a large number of variants. Soon, Data Panel will launch even more system components, including a visually programmable J1939 logic module, which can also take over the control of other CAN nodes. In combination with a programmable CAN display available in the 4th quarter, the requirements of simple machines are thus often completely fulfilled - without cost-intensive machine control.
